Emotional Management- a guest lecture at APS College of Arts & Science

One of the key influencers of a person’s quality of life is his/ her ability to manage one’s emotions. This is especially important in the formative years of adolescence. Pre-University College Students find themselves often overwhelmed with emotions- what with the myriad challenges they face. Physiological changes, exam anxiety, performance pressure, peer pressure, dealing with parents’ expectations… all add to a teenager’s emotional roller coaster.

To address this challenge in youngsters, the APS College of Arts & Science organised a guest lecture for their PUC students, delivered by MD & CEO of SAI Pvt. Ltd, Prof. Swarnalatha Iyer. The lecture, presided over by the Principal, focussed on helping the youngsters identify and manage their emotions better.

Our attitudes shape our behaviours and thereby shape our personalities. The key to having a successful life is to maintain a positive mental attitude towards life events. Emphasising on this aspect, Swarnalatha’s lecture brought to light the importance of responding to situations as opposed to reacting. Expounding the difference between the two, her lecture taught the young adults HOW to respond instead of reacting, drawing on several examples. It is this quality which affirms one’s level of maturity, and marks the transformation of a teenager from a child to an adult.

SAI Pvt. Ltd. is thankful to APS College for this initiative, and looks forward to more such collaborations with the institution.
